4th of July celebrations and surrounding areas

Joplin’s Fourth of July celebration will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fred G. Hughes Stadium on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.

Fireworks start at 9:45 p.m., preceded by family activities, live music from The Mixtapes, inflatables, food trucks, vendors and more.

SOUTHWEST MISSOURI

• CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — The city will host its Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The parade route will be on Main Street from Wells Street to the community center, where prizes will be awarded afterward. Also following the parade, the local VFW will serve food at the community center for $4 for adults and $2.50 for children; veterans will eat for free.

• MONETT, Mo. — The city’s Freedom & Fireworks celebration, hosted by the Monett Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the municipal park, 105 S. Lincoln Ave.

Activities will include access to the aquatic center, a carnival, vendors, live music and fireworks. Unlimited ride bracelets are available for $15.

• SENECA, Mo. — The city of Seneca will host an all-day celebration starting with a parade at 10 a.m. Saturday. Activities after the parade will be held at the city park, including hamburgers and hot dogs for sale, a pie auction, duck race, kids games, helicopter rides, tug of war and more.

Additional activities are planned at the fireworks site, at the school farm, located at the intersection of Highway U and Bethel Road. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with bounce houses, face painting, food trucks and live music. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:45. Admission is $10 per car, with all proceeds to benefit next year’s fireworks show.

• GRANBY, Mo. — Wrapping up the city’s annual celebration of Old Mining Town Days, which begins Friday, is a fireworks display is set for 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Dick Smith Park. The Granby Miners Museum will offer special hours, music and root beer floats to visitors.

NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA

• MIAMI, Okla. — Miami’s Fourth of July festivities will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Run outdoor amphitheater, 1000 Buffalo Run Blvd. Activities include fireworks, music, concessions, as well as free hot dogs and water while supplies last. Admission is free.

SOUTHEAST KANSAS

• PARSONS, Kan. — The CST Storage 2019 Music in the Park concert series will continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a patriotic musical salute by the community band. The weekly concert series, for which admission is free, is located in the Seaton Family Pavilion in Forest Park, 204 S. 13th St.

Other activities sponsored by the Parsons Chamber of Commerce will include the annual Fireworks 4 Parsons display from nearby Marvel Park, to begin after the concert.

• PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Fourth of July celebration in Pittsburg’s Lincoln Park will be a two-day affair filled with games, contests, family fun and fireworks.

Beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday, residents are welcome to shop the farmers market, hear live music, visit arts, crafts and food vendors or hang out at the baby contest.

Events resume at 8 a.m. Thursday with vendor booths, a fishing derby, car show, bike ride, RC airplane demos, Zumbathon, dog show, carnival rides, vaudeville, bocce tournament, disc golf, live music, swimming and more. Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m.
