A homicide investigation is underway after Carthage Police find a shooting victim in an alley Tuesday night around 9pm. An uniddentified 30 year old male was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. Carthage Police have at least one person in custody who is described as a person of interest.

On 10/13/2020 at 2054 hours the Carthage Police Department received a 911 call regarding gunshots being heard in the 100 block of north Garrison Ave. Arriving officers located a 30 year old Male subject laying in the west alley of the 100 block of north Garrison. The subject was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation is still ongoing. Our investigation team is currently processing the scene and speaking to potential witnesses. We believe this to be an isolated incident and do not believe the public is in any further danger regarding this incident. The name of the deceased subject and the names of any other individuals are not being release at this time. We will update you with further information as we can.
Update – Carthage police have identified the man found dead of an apparent gunshot wound Tuesday night in the alley near the Daisy Court apartments as John C. Morgan, 30, of Carthage.
