Hundreds of Vehicles Burn Inside Cargo Ship Jacksonville, Florida

Over 150 fire fighters responded a cargo fire around 7 p.m. on June 4th on Blount Island, Florida. An explosion on board happened shortly later sending 8 fire fighters to hosptial. The cargo ship was carrying used vehicles temperatures were reported at over 1000 degrees or hotter. Emergency crews had been spraying up to 25,000 gallons of water per minute onto the ship to keep it cool. The Fire lasted for 8 days in total 9 fire fighters were treated for injuries one from heat exhaustion.
