The Hollywood Bowl 2023 season offers more than 20 classical programs including Gustavo Dudamel, Music & Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Walt and Lilly Disney Chair, returning for his 14th Hollywood Bowl season. Dudamel presents 10 concerts which include joining longtime friend and collaborator John Williams as he celebrates conducting his 100th LA Phil concert (July 7-9); the continuation of his five-year Pan-American Music Initiative with the performance of the LA Phil commission from Francisco Cortés-Álvarez La Serpiente de Colores and the Hollywood Bowl debut from Brazilian dance company Grupo Corpo (July 18) among others.
The LA Phil will present three world premieres this summer, including a new work from Jonathan Bailey Holland and Chris Thile’s narrative song cycle for extroverted mandolin and orchestra (both August 22); and Adam Schoenberg’s Cool Cat written for P22, a wild mountain lion who resided in Griffith Park in Los Angeles (September 12). Returning LA Phil friends include Leonard Slatkin (July 25), Stéphane Denève (July 27), Thomas Wilkins (August 4-5), Hélène Grimaud (August 8), Jean-Yves Thibaudet (August 15), Nicholas McGegan (September 5), David Newman (September 1-2) and Anne-Akiko Meyers (September 12).
